JCL stands for JOB Control Language. • It Provides information about the resources required for the execution of a JOB. • JCL is the command language • It consists of a set of control statements that identifies the program to be executed and the data to be used for program execution. • Jobs written in JCL are managed by the Job Entry Subsystem (JES). • The jobs are submitted to JES which is a component of operating system (OS). • OS needs the details of job to be executed and input data to be used. This information is provided by job control statements. • JCL is powerful language; because after user submits the job to the system, there is normally no further human interaction with the job until it is complete. |
